MEET William (Yellow male) & Poppy (Black
female) 8.5 years lab x
William and Poppy have been together since they were 6 weeks old. Their owner is
moving back to Australia and doesn't want to quarantine them as is required by law in
order to bing them back into the country. They are dearly loved and super treasured and
it is breaking the owners heart to surrender them to us.
William and poppy love to swim, go for long walks, are great in the car. They both display
all the typical lab type qualities. They are a pair to be treasured.... Call us today to
discuss this amazing set. Time is running out for these two precious pups! CALL US

Personal Words from Poppy and Williams owner's June 6, 2010:
We are an Australian couple who have been temporarily resident in Canada since July 2008. I'm an Army
officer and have been on a 2 year exchange posting with the Canadian Forces. Unfortunately, a number of
factors have all conspired that have led us to the awful decision of leaving our two wonderful dogs here in
Canada. Firstly, the cost and trauma of the re-import process into Australia that see our dogs transported
(confined) and quarantined for a minimum of 1 month at a cost of somewhere between AUD$12-15,000,
without contact, with a maximum of 1 hours exercise a week at extra cost to the above! Secondly, due to the
GFC, the military has withdrawn any financial support to help with overseas relocation of pets.
I have had William and Poppy since they were both 6 weeks old. They have constantly been together since
this time, so I think it preferable that they stay together if at all possible. Having said that, they are both quite
independent and are very people-oriented dogs. Seeing them together - the way they sleep on each other
and curl up together when the temperature allows - emphasises what I mean! Both dogs are around 8.5
years old at present...they are in excellent health, not overweight, and are exercised twice (morning and
night walks) during the week, and on weekends I usually take them for a longer walk or a swim (they are
both enamoured with water!). They will stay on their doggie beds unless you call them over to you. You can
leave food on a plate within their reach and walk away - and apart from looking like they are the most denied
creatures on the planet - they won't touch anything unless you feed it to them.
They really are creatures of routine. If indoors, they will hear me awake in the morning and they will be lying
at the bottom of the stairs waiting patiently for the morning walk (about the only exception to them leaving
their doggie beds). They are fed twice daily,
We have a couple of nicknames for William (the white lab-retriever) male based upon his insatiable appetite
for human affection...usually he is "The Stalker" as he will follow you around the house looking in whatever
window so he can see you, or "Special Needs" as he will take every opportunity to sit or lie on your foot or
feet, so as to pin you to him...only to be released at his leisure! Poppy is the more independent of the two -
people usually gravitate to William initially because he is a stunningly attractive and friendly dog, but over
time many prefer Poppy...Willliam's tendency to 'barge' her out of the way when she is being patted so he
can be patted usually turns the tide! She stoically endures until such time as William has had his fill!
Neither dog barks very much at all...usually only if there is something wrong. I used to discourage them
barking, but on 2 occasions they have saved us from thieves (stealing newly placed plants from the garden
in the first instance, and then saving my dirtbike on the second). I have never seen them in a fight...where
other dogs get aggressive William will "disengage' and Poppy usually goes submissive. Poppy will
occasionally growl at other dogs that are too boisterous and in her face, but that's about it. They are very
gentle with children - they actively sought out children when they were younger, but as they have aged it is
now more a case of gentle tolerance...even as their ears are pulled, etc. William in particular is perfect with
children - they naturally gravitate to him and he endures their rough play with just a suffering look in his eyes
if they are really rough.
I really can't say enough in these short words about these two dogs. Poppy and William are incredible dogs
and it is our hope to find a family that will sincerely love them as much as we do. We truly do not want to let
them go but fell it is what is best for them.
