Jet’s Top Ten Things To Do (in no particular order):
1. “Play” with the cats.
2. Go for a walk. He will grab his leash if he thinks its past time for the regular walk routine.
3. Cuddle with his foster mom.
4. Eat.
5. Suck on stuffed/unstuffed animals.
6. Explore
7. Romp in the lake.
8. Lay/roll on his back with his feet in the air.
9. Bump his nose to his person to let them know he is there and for him to know that you
are there also.
10. Love, be happy, and have a big smile on.
Top Thing Jet Could Live Without: 1. Bananas
Jet is a wonderfully easy, playful dog. He quite simply enjoys anything that allows him to be with people
and his feline and canine siblings. He sleeps solidly and is quite eager to climb into bed once bedtime
has been called. In the mornings, he enjoys a wander outside with his foster sister and is quite happy to
hang around the home office while I’m working. He is very good at keeping himself occupied throughout
the day. He likes to gnaw on a bone or work away at a soft toy. Provide him with a nice large unstuffed
toy and he will be happy for hours. Jet is very quiet and will often only cry when one of his feline brothers
has hidden themselves and Jet can smell them but cannot find them. Jet loves his walks! After about a
week of the same route he walks with little hesitation and ever-growing confidence. It is sometimes
difficult to believe that his vision is impaired. Jet does like to pull at the beginning of a walk but is quick to
settle into a comfortable pace. Perhaps his favourite time of day is when we all put our feet up and he
has an opportunity to nestle in beside me and have his head, ears and chest rubbed. When he is
bursting with happiness he rolls onto his back with feet in the air. This position is a common occurrence
and the subject of many photo ops.
Jet needs some direction when walking outdoors as he may not always see things until he is upon them.
Parked cars are particularly troublesome but he is learning to respond to helpful cues like “watch your
head”.
We were all quite surprised at Jet’s willingness to do anything his sighted foster sister does. When she
went swimming Jet followed. He loves to splash and play in the lake. As a result of Jet’s incredible zest
for life he has inspired many. He truly is a beautiful creature that has captured all of our hearts. We
know that he will make a wonderful friend, companion, and teacher.
