SWEET SENIOR SELECTION!
The finely aged, beautifully mellowed and silky smooth whiskey that sailed with the
Franklin expedition in 1845-1848 has been found.  We will never taste it, but to make
up for that disappointment, Lab-Rescue is proud to offer a great selection of finely
aged, beautifully mellowed and silky smooth senior labs in its care.

Never in our history have we been able to offer such a fine, varied and aged to
perfection labs.  They have come to us looking for that happy and warm place that all
dogs but especially seniors should be able to count on.

These dogs offer at no extra charge

- unconditional love  - the world through wondering and wise eyes
- cuddles in the location of your choice  - NO puppy silliness
- gentle strolls  - playfulness and joy in your company
- friendship and company when you need it most  - smiles in their eyes

If you are tempted by anyone this fine selection please check out bios and

One of our beloved fur babies leaves us ... Bailey
Running this rescue as volunteers we have to deal with some heavy emotional situations and we draw on
our strength, passion and love of the breed to keep us going. It isn’t always easy, in fact it is incredibly
difficult to manage our own paid careers, family’s and fur kidz AND run a rescue as demanding and popular
as we have become in the last 2.5 years since we started.
What keeps us going?

The incredible placement stories, the love of the newly adoptive family’s for labs that were carelessly
disposed of for no other reason then people are just are tired of them, bored, fed up, haven’t trained them,
have children, get divorced etc.  One girl particularly touched my heart when we first started back in 2008
and her name was BAILEY.  Bailey came to us after a divorce and no one wanted her. She was 10 years old
in November 2008 when she came to us with liver levels that were through the roof, on long term meds that
were dispensed like candy and not properly monitored leaving her in a medically weak position. From the
moment we set eyes on this girl I knew we would never want her to leave our care as she had so little time
left.  To our sincere surprise and working with some amazing doctors our sweet brown Angel lived another
2.5 years as the happiest, most content senior surrounded by the love of her incredible foster family, Andres,
Catarina and Lidia.  She lived with her foster friend Tara, went on car rides, play days with other labbies, and
trips to the cottage. She was surrounded by so much love and affection and deserved every second of it.
May 3rd was a very sad day for us as our sweet  Chocolate Princess has passed on.  She will be sadly
missed and was truly a symbol to  the rescue of what saving these dogs is all about.
Truly the eyes of an
Angel.

Rufus sends his thanks ..

Dear Miss Laura,

I am Rufus the Lab, Do you remember me?  I am the one you rescued when my parents didn't want me any
longer, when I was no longer loved and became a nuisance around the house, when I was criticized for every
little mistake I made, when I was left alone to fend for myself.  They didn't want to play with me any longer.  They
didn't want to go for walks with me or take me to the park.  They would always leave me by myself. I didn't feel
like I was part of the family, but I know I was supposed to be.

You came along and saved me from that.  I thank you so much for that.  You will never know how thankful I am.
You didn't even know me and you took me in.  Think about what you saved me from.   I wish I could put all my
feelings into words, but I cannot.

Not only did you rescue me, you did something more important than that.  You loved me.  You made me feel so
special when I thought I was worthless.  I can stand taller now because you loved me.  Thank you.

You didn't stop there either.  You invested in me.  When you rescued me, you didn't know the medical issues
that I had and how much it would cost to get me all fixed up.  It would have been so easy to abandon me and
most people would have.  But you invested in me and I really owe you my life.  Thank you for your kind heart and
generous spirit.

When I was feeling depressed and had a low self esteem, you bragged about all my good qualities and
encouraged people to adopt me.  You showed me that I really am more valuable than my owner thought I was.
I can now carry my head high as I stroll through the park.  There is now a bounce in my step. What a difference
you have made in my life.  Finally I am loved and accepted for who I am.  My new parents bring me such joy and
I think I give the same to them. Thank you for your incredible love, service and generosity that has changed my
life and that of so many others.

Lovingly,
Rufus
