Hi friends,

I’m Jade, a one-year-old girl with a soft black coat, a loyal heart, and the gentlest soul. I bond deeply with my people and love being close. I’m the kind of dog who will quietly seek you out for affection, lean into you for comfort, and happily follow you around just to feel connected.

I like to think I have a pretty gorgeous face… especially when my quirky little smile shows up. When I’m having extra fun, my lip sometimes gets caught in my teeth, giving me that adorable “teefs” look. One of my human friends couldn’t stop laughing at my silly side-eye while I was doing zoomies, I kept glancing over mid-run like I was checking to make sure she was watching me. What can I say? I’ve got a very expressive face and a goofy, playful side that keeps people smiling.

I’ve been doing really well in my foster home and have been growing more confident every day. I’ve been enjoying lots of adventurous walks and learning how to focus more on my foster while we’re out exploring together. Because I’m still young, I’m eager to learn and genuinely enjoy engaging with my people. I’m making wonderful progress with my listening cues and paying attention during walks, and my foster says I’m showing just how willing and capable I am when given patience and encouragement.

I’ve also been working on meeting other dogs and have been doing very well with calm, gradual introductions. I’ve had positive experiences meeting dogs outside and am starting to show more interest in playful interactions. 

Since I’m still young, I’m continuing to learn good doggy manners, body language, and appropriate play skills, and I’m showing a wonderful willingness to learn from those experiences. With continued guidance and positive experiences, I’m growing into a more confident and social girl all the time.

Let me tell you about some of my favourite things. Treats and special bones? Yes please. I get very excited, but I’m also polite and patient while you prepare my food or hand me a snack. I already know “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” and I truly enjoy learning new things. I’m a curious girl who notices everything - little sounds, movement, what’s happening around me. I also think puzzle toys, enrichment games, and Kongs are the best kinds of fun for keeping my smart brain busy and happy.

I’m great in the car and make an excellent little road trip companion. Sometimes I sit quietly watching the world pass by outside the window, taking in all the sights and sounds, and other times I curl up for a cozy nap like the sweet little passenger princess I am.

One of my absolute favourite things in the world is snuggling. Since I’m a petite girl, I fit perfectly on your lap and will happily curl myself into the coziest little ball while soaking up all the warmth and love. I truly thrive on closeness and connection with my people, that’s where I feel safest and happiest.

And don’t get me started on toys… I LOVE them. Toss one into the backyard and I instantly come to life, bouncing around with my funny little hops while I run and play. People always smile when they see it because apparently my joyful bouncy style is pretty adorable.

I do form deep connections, but I can take a little time to warm up at first. New people or situations can sometimes make me feel unsure, so I’m looking for a family who understands that patience, gentle encouragement, and kindness go a long way with me. The fastest way to my heart? Definitely treats. Once I feel safe and comfortable, my affectionate, playful, and loving personality really starts to shine.
