Hi friends!

I’m Mara, a 2-year-old girl with the sweetest, gentlest heart and a gorgeous soft black coat. I’m a calm and easygoing girl, and you can tell I’m just so happy to be with my people! I love trotting along in the backyard and soaking up sunny days.

I’m well-mannered in the house and adjust nicely to a daily routine. I enjoy curling up in my dog bed for a cozy nap in the sun, or resting by your side to soak up some extra pets. I can charm you even more with my sweet eyes and soft smile!

I love getting a special treat and I’m learning to patiently wait for my food. I sometimes do a little happy wiggle and bounce at mealtime because I’m just so excited. I’m enjoying my meals and working on gaining some extra weight as recommended. I’m already learning to take treats gently and wait politely. I’m eager to please and love to learn, so with a bit of guidance, I know I’ll keep improving!

I’m a total cuddle bug at heart. I love being close to my people, burying my head in your lap and soaking up ear rubs. Snuggles are definitely one of my favorite things.

I’m also a confident and relaxed girl. Loud noises like traffic don’t bother me. On walks, I’m told I’m a dream on leash! I enjoy taking my time to sniff and explore the world at a nice, easy pace. My foster says my recall to “come here!” is really good, and I can’t wait to keep showing off my skills. I’m a great listener and love staying connected with my person.

Overall, I’m a gentle, affectionate, and easygoing girl who can’t wait to share my love. I’m ready to find a family who will continue to guide me, celebrate my progress, and enjoy all the sweetness I have to give.

Foster Update:

Mara is also a wonderful, independent girl who is happy to relax on her own while you’re busy getting things done. She continues to walk beautifully on leash, never in a rush - just enjoying a calm, leisurely stroll. She’s a very quiet presence in the home and is curious about squirrels, often watching them in the backyard with gentle interest.
